Unique Kidz and Co

Iceland Fire & Ice Trek 2026

How the Trekkers are changing lives

The Iceland Fire & Ice Trek is a thrilling adventure designed to support the incredible work of Unique Kidz and Co, a disabled children and young adult’s charity founded in 2009 by Denise and Jane. Drawing from their own experiences, they established Unique Kidz to provide care and support that they were unable to find elsewhere,

The charity began as an afterschool and holiday club. Fast forward 15 years, it has grown to provide a range of different services including weekend clubs, daytime support for young adults, stay and play sessions for children under 5, a siblings group and a toy library and supports over 180 young people.

Since the beginning, the focus of Unique Kidz has always been the young people. “They are at the heart of everything we do and every decision that we make “ says Denise, “our staff work hard to deliver activities, sessions and trips that are more than just fun. They develop social skills, build confidence and create lasting friendships.” As the charity celebrate 15 years, new plans have been approved for the extension of their building and land on Acre Moss Lane. These developments will enable Unique Kidz to double its capacity and extend its life-changing services to even more disabled young people

In support of this mission, the Iceland Fire & Ice Trek presents an exhilarating challenge through Europe’s stunning wilderness. Participants will trek 58 kilometres over three days, navigating the awe-inspiring and actively volcanic Landmannalaugar region. This trek is not for the faint-hearted, with its steep climbs, rough descents, and camp setup responsibilities. By taking on this adventure, trekkers contribute to the ongoing mission of Unique Kidz, ensuring the charity can continue to support young disabled people and expand their facilities. As Jane puts it, "The future looks incredible," and with the community's support, the charity is poised for even greater achievements.
